Welcome to the
2020 Cayo Residency Application
We are seeking artists who focus on the environment, biology, ecology, or preservation in their work, and whose work encompasses a curiosity and reverence for the Earth's diverse wonders. We are open to artists working in all genres. Our ideal residents are artists who want to deepen their practice through workshops, field trips and dialog. These artists must be open to team cooperation and artistic autonomy.
IMPORTANT DATES:
Tuesday, October 15, 2019: Call officially opens.
Sunday, December 15, 2020: All applications must be received by midnight.
Tuesday, January 7, 2020: Selected participants will be notified.
Saturday, February 15, 2020: Signed contracts due back to Cayo
Sunday, March 1 , 2020: Deadline for 30% non-refundable deposit on the residency
Wednesday, April 1st, 2020: Second Payment is Due
Friday, May 1st, 2020: Final Payment is Due
Tuesday July 7 - Tuesday July 28, 2020: Residency Dates (Three Weeks)
RESIDENCY FEE
The Residency Fee for 21 days is $2,900 USD. This fee includes transportation costs during the residency, lodging, meals and snacks, and entrance fees to parks and institutions. Accommodations for each resident will include a single bed (two beds per room) and shared bathroom. We also offer a private suite (queen bed) with private bathroom and separate entrance for $3,300 USD.
We cannot offer any scholarships or financial aid at this time, but this is one of our goals.
Airfare, travel/health insurance and personal spending money are the responsibility of the artist.
The official 2020 residency workshops and field trips will be selected from the following list. The official program will be sent out to our accepted participants in their welcome packet.

Put “2020 Submission, LastName” in the email subject heading.
Indicate in the email if you are interested in a shared bedroom or the private suite.

APPLICATION MATERIALS:
1) Artist Statement that describes your work and methodology (one page, PDF). Please save file as lastname_firstname_statement.pdf
2) Artist CV (three pages maximum, PDF). Please save file as lastname_firstname_cv.pdf
3) One portfolio (multi-page PDF) file with ten high quality images. Include captions with title, dimensions, materials and the year completed. Images will need to be of excellent quality. Images must have been completed in the past 5 years. Please save file as lastname_firstname_images.pdf
4) Project proposal for the residency (one page, PDF). Please save file as lastname_firstname_proposal.pdf
